Please join us for a free webinar to learn how the Kognito suite of online suicide prevention trainings for campuses can assist you in addressing the requirements of the GLS Campus Suicide Prevention grant. The suite of online simulations is currently utilized by 23 GLS grantees and over 300 colleges and universities nationwide. In addition, all four programs in the suite are listed in SPRC/AFSP Best Practices Registry, and two are also listed in SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

The Kognito suite includes suicide prevention and gatekeeper training programs tailored for faculty, staff, students, RAs and other student leaders. It can also help you address the specific needs of underserved populations such as LGBTQ students, student veterans, and military families.

Join the Webinar to find out how our trainings can help you meet the goals and objectives of this funding opportunity, including:


  • increasing the amount of training to students, faculty, and staff on suicide prevention and mental health promotion;
  • increasing the number of educational seminars and informational materials for students, faculty, staff, and family members on suicide prevention, identification and reduction of risk factors, such as depression and substance use/abuse;
  • increasing help-seeking among students and reducing negative attitudes for seeking care for mental and substance use disorders among students; and
  • increasing the promotion of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

We will also outline how our integrated assessment system will assist you with data collection, performance measurement, and local performance assessment.

  • Avatar-Based Suicide Prevention Training for Middle School Educators
    Date: November 8, 2012

    This Webinar was about Kognito’s At-Risk for Middle School Educators, hosted by Mary Ellen Nudd, vice president of Mental Health America of Texas, whose agency is providing the training to over 75,000 public middle school educators in Texas. Ms. Nudd was be joined by Jenna Heise, suicide prevention coordinator for the Texas Dept. of State Health Services. They discussed the public health imperatives behind this effort and the plan to disseminate the training across the State. Kognito CEO, Ron Goldman, will present a live demonstration of the new training simulation.

  • Targeting the ED to Reduce Suicide and Substance Abuse

    Thirty thousand teachers in New York State will be trained over the next three years using Kognito’s At-Risk. Hosted by Melanie Puorto, director of suicide prevention initiatives for NYS Office of Mental Health, this webinar discusses why her office selected this innovative training platform and what they hope to achieve on behalf of New York’s youth and families. Ms. Puorto also explains how schools can join the program and plans for its evaluation. Ms. Puorto is joined in the Webinar by Melissa Evingham, Asst. Supt. of the Lakeshore Central School District in Upstate New York, who talks about how the training aligns with her districts "whole child" philosophy.
