A study at 35 universities and colleges with 512 students (46% freshmen), using an experimental and control group found that At-Risk:
1) Increases the likelihood that students will approach and refer a fellow student exhibiting signs of psychological distress.
2) Increases students' knowledge and skill with regards to identifying, approaching and referring at-risk students.
3) Increases students' confidence in their ability to help a suicidal student seek help.
4) Increases students' ability to recognize when they themselves may be in need of help, and the likelihood that they will seek that help at the counseling center.
5) Provides a realistic and engaging environment to practice speaking with students at-risk for psychological distress.
